Q. Explain the Boots and Booting process of computer? 

The computer gets ready to interact with the user through a process is known as Booting. The process from switching on the computer to start DOS/Window is known as Booting. The final stage of Booting is loaded an operating system into main memory. DOS can be loaded from a floppy disk or hard disk loading of DOS implies loading of three essential file DOS that is :-

1:- IO. Sys
2:- MS DOS. sys
3:- Command.com 

The Booting process consist of the following steps:-

1:-  POST

2:-  BIOS


1:- POST:- It stands for power-On Self-TestEvery time a computer is switch on it goes through self diagnostic test that is it runs through a complex set of instruction is called POST. These instruction are stored in the ROM. These test check the hardware configuration and all the function area of the computer. If any fault is found in display an error message on the screen or alert the user through beeps.

1:- A computer can be switched on if it is off.
2:- If a computer is already post it can be starting either by processing a restart button or pressing ALT and Del keys. 

2:- BIOS:-  It stands for Basic input output system. It provides the basic instruction for controlling the system hardware.It is responsible for performing input output operation when so direction.

The ROM BIOS performs a check for DOS files in the following order:-

1:- It scan the C-drive for a boot able disk. If the necessary DOS file are found over there then the system goes on to the next process.

2:- Otherwise it checks the C-drive for DOS files as an error message reporting.

Booting is done in various ways:-

1:- Cold Booting

2:- Warm Booting

Cold Booting:- It is a slow process. It allows to perform is startup function and load the operating system into the main memory. It is done only from the On Off button.

Warm Booting:- When the system hangs due to some reason it may be necessary to restart it by pressing restart button. It is a fastest process.



CONCLUSION:-

Both Cold Booting and Warm Booting clear computer Memory so if we have not saved our data it may be lost in the process of Re-Booting the computer.
